My work uses painting and soft sculpture to explore how we construct our bodies and selves while navigating broader social environments. Past experiences studying and navigating health systems drives my artistic practice.

I build volume in fabric through hand embroidery, following a grid-based pattern to create an organic form. Connecting points on the grid results in a biomorphic structure subject to the qualities of the textile as well as my hands as a maker. The stitches show how my hand moves the material through space and time.

I associate the grid with bureaucratic and administrative systems, while the fabric serves as a metonym for the body as a material. My process is a way of reflecting upon relationships between social environments, our bodies, and sense of self.

I have shown work in New Mexico at SITE Santa Fe, The University of New Mexico Art Museum, Strata Gallery, and Harwood’s 6th Street Studios.
